This morning, I am regularly used to browsing yahoo on-line
newspaper, a surprising news pumps into my brain that is
the first mass rapid transit line, the Red line in Kaohsiung,
is scheduled to start for revenue service on the 9th March
this year. After six more years of construction, there will be
jubilation of a freshly completed with a free one-month trial
service period, bringing a small but timely morale-booster into
Kaohsiung residents’ lives.
One spectacular Public Art Masterpiece for open cerebration at
Formosa Boulevard Station (福爾摩沙站) is the illumination of
the world’s largest public glass art work –the Dome of Light
which is created by 義裔美籍創作者水先大師Italian maestro
Narcissus Quagliata, invests with a whole new literary, aesthetic
and psychological significance in the art work. The work
displays the spirit of “tolerance” through the incorporation of the
elements “water”, “light” and “fire” into the art piece.
I do believe Kaohsiung MRT not only brings convenient transportation
to people, but is also the source of shaping a modernized urban pattern
for this harbour city in providing an environment for citizens to access
artistic life. The important thing is the driving force for a better lifestyle.
I am proud of being a resident of Kaohsiung, and also the honour of
bringing a brand-new look for all of my distinguished friends.
